Place : An SBI ATM in Mogappair ( Has also happened in petrol stations, movie halls, super markets...)

Well... We don't have the concept of "Q" in our system. Just saying. At the movie hall. At the ATM counter. At the supermarket. It is so astonishing that I have to ask at least one person to fall in line in one of these places every week. I have just one item to buy, I have “some” urgent work to do are the lame excuses they give for jumping the queue.

While some are decent enough to oblige when pointed out, some come with the weirdest of arguments why they have the right to not wait their turn. Like the middle aged woman at the SBI ATM counter last week, who claimed her prerogative to barge in because she was an employee of SBI.

What is more surprising is that the guy behind the billing counter has no spine to tell his customer to fall in line.  Nor do the other customers (most at least) bother to point out. Until self-discipline is exercised and the general public has the nerve to call attention to the violators, “Silence Please”, “Queue Please”, “Don’t pluck flowers” and more such sign boards will make no sense in Chennai (or anywhere else for that matter).
